Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene ‘Live’ with Payroll Software

The Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene (MHCP) went ‘live’ with Quadrant HR’s Payroll software on January 21, 2009.

Implementation of Quadrant HR’s payroll software is the first stage of the process. The MHCP is also underway with the implementation of Quadrant HR’s Staff Scheduling software, targetted to go ‘live’ this summer.

Quadrant HR’s Staff Scheduling software helps organizations quickly, easily and efficiently schedule the right people, in the right positions, at the right time, for the right cost.

This was an especially complex implementation as it had an aggressive timeline. QHR is pleased with how well both organizations worked together to successfully meet its ambitious deliverables.

Integration of Quadrant HR’s payroll software and staff scheduling software will provide enormous benefits to MHCP such as eliminating duplicate data entry, system interfaces and multiple databases for the same employee information.

QHR Software is pleased to have the MHCP join our many clients already using Quadrant HR’s Payroll software.

The Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene, located in Penetanguishene, Ontario, is a 312-bed psychiatric hospital with three distinct divisions. The Acute and Community Care Division offers 31 acute psychiatric beds, a variety of Supportive Clinical Programs and the Outpatient Services Program in the community. The Tertiary Care Division offers a variety longer-term programs with 101 beds and the Forensic Division offers 160-beds of maximum and medium secure programs for mentally disordered offenders.

QHR Acquires Financial Software Division of Momentum Healthware

QHR Software Inc. has purchased the Financial Software division of Momentum Healthware. QHR Software is thrilled to be part of the same family that is now one of the largest Canadian Health Informatics companies.

Under the Agreement, QHR Software is acquiring all the business and operating assets of Momentum’s Financial Software Division (the ‘Division’). This Division is a market leader in providing customized financial software to the healthcare industry, built on the Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains) platform. This software, currently known as Momentum Financials, is marketed to medium and large healthcare facilities – the same market segment that QHR targets with its payroll, scheduling and human resource management software called Quadrant HR™.

In announcing the purchase, Al Hildebrandt, President and CEO of QHR Software, said:

“Momentum and QHR have worked together as partners since the inception of our two companies, serving a common client base. The acquisition of the Financial Software Division gives QHR the opportunity to become the dominant force in providing a comprehensive enterprise management software solution to the healthcare market. I am delighted with the acquisition, particularly because Charles LaFleche, the founder of Momentum, will be taking an executive management role with QHR.”

Glenn Tinkler, President and CEO of Momentum Healthware said,

“When we decided to focus our strategy on our clinical software division and to divest our Financial Software Division, it was important that we placed the business with the right partner. We have had a long relationship with QHR and we are pleased that they have agreed to the purchase. We know our clients will be well served and that we will continue to work with QHR on future initiatives in the healthcare market.”

They will be merged with QHR Software under the leadership of its COO, Larry Smith, who recently joined QHR Software (see recent announcement). Clients will have the same support and service relationships, making for a smooth transition.

All of the staff at Momentum currently involved with the Division will join QHR and remain at their Winnipeg office. Additionally, QHR will be opening a Winnipeg office, adjacent to the current Momentum offices, to allow for further expansion of the company.

Both QHR and Momentum are Microsoft Gold software developer partners. Momentum and Quadrant HR™ systems are MIS-compliant and proven in a variety of healthcare organizations.

Quadrant HR Version 2.8.3 Now Available

QHR Software Inc. has just released Quadrant HR Version 2.8.3.

This release offers the following new improvements and enhancements:
- New confirmation e-mails sent to applicants from QHRnet Recruiting improving communication with applicants.
- The Staff Scheduling module will now enable schedulers to temporarily unassign employees from a rotation row in the event of a leave of absence.
- Reporting improvements for Payroll and Leave Management plus a new scheduling report template.
- Enhancements to security.
- Various other changes and fixes.

QHR Announces New Chief Operating Officer

Al Hildebrandt, President & CEO of QHR Software, is pleased to announce the appointment of Larry Smith to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Larry has held senior management positions, including COO and President, with several companies of similar or larger size in Kelowna. He has experience with staff scheduling, payroll, human resources, and financial applications and has been involved in the healthcare IT industry for over 20 years.

For the past several years, Larry has provided professional consulting services throughout the Okanagan. As a consultant, Larry has worked with a number of companies assisting them in the mission of ‘building great companies’. He has recently developed market assessments and strategies for both QHR Software and Optimed Software providing him with indepth knowledge of our company and direction.

Larry has a B.Sc. in Health Information Science from UVIC, an MBA from UBC and is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He was the founding chair of OSTEC, a board member of the EDC, was co-chair of the local ACETECH, and a past member of the Science Council of B.C.

Parkland RHA ‘Live’ with Quadrant HR Staff Scheduling

QHR SoftwareGilbert Plains Health Centre, Grandview Personal Care Home and Grandview District Hospital, three facilities located in the Parkland Regional Health Authority (Parkland RHA), went ‘live’ with Quadrant HR’s Staff Scheduling module in December, 2008.

Since March 2003, Parkland RHA has been using Quadrant HR’s Payroll and Human Resources modules to administer and pay their workforce of 2,000. This is the first phase of the Staff Scheduling implementation with eventual use region-wide. Community Health Services and the Roblin Hospital will complete implementation this January and February respectively. The next phase will include the Swan facilities, followed by the Dauphin Regional health Centre.

Brenda Murray, Regional Payroll Manager and QHR System Administrator at Parkland says “We are pleased that we have successfully completed the first stage of implementing Quadrant HR Staff Scheduling. This will replace existing manual paper-based scheduling processes and other third-party systems. We anticipate that the region-wide implementation will assist us in developing consistent practices that will help us to be more efficient and cost-effective.”

Implementation of Staff Scheduling will also help Parkland to realize the full benefits of seamless integration with Quadrant HR’s Payroll and Human Resources modules. Manual processes and interfaces to third-party systems will no longer be required.

QHR at OHA Health Achieve Tradeshow.

For the eighth straight year QHR Software will be exhibiting at this years’ OHA Health Achieve Tradeshow. The show will be at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Monday, November 3rd and Tuesday, November 4th and has attracted some fascinating speakers for this year including Lance Armstrong, Rt. Penetanguishene General Hospital – QHR’s newest client.

QHR Software is pleased to announce that the Penetanguishene General Hospital will soon be using QHR’s full Quadrant HR suite of products – Payroll Processing, Staff Scheduling, Human Resources and our online self service QHRnet module. The hospital was in search of a complete HRIS solution for their 130 bed hospital to streamline processes and increase efficiencies in the areas of HR, Scheduling and Payroll. QHR to speak at OLTCA Fall Symposium

As a new member of the Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA), QHR Software is honored to be speaking at the annual Fall Symposium in Toronto on Tuesday, October 28th. The event is expected to cater to over 200 members and will consist of several key issues relevant to the long term care industry in Ontario such as LHIN Governance, improving health care quality and managing the influenza outbreak. Our own Evonne Dolphin will be speaking at the symposium about Change Management with a presentation entitled Embracing Change: Step One in Developing Sustainable Partnerships. Evonne leads our Implementations Team at QHR and is also a certified executive coach (CEC) with a background in change leadership. We look forward to speaking at this event and getting to know the OLTCA and its members better.
