Measuring the ROI of HR Employee Self Service
Wednesday, August 30th, 2006
Brockville General Hospital (BGH) has completed the evaluation and testing of QHRnet, from QHR Software Inc., and begun employing the use of this web platform to facilitate employee and manager self service features. Even in the early stages of using QHRnet, BGH is already realizing the value employee and manager self service brings to their organization, both from a cost perspective and as a communication tool.
“There are both direct and indirect cost savings in a myriad of areas that justify the cost of this advanced Human Resources functionality. Data quality will be improved dramatically by enabling employees to review and change their personal data such as address and contact information. It will also provide a more robust database and single collection point for contact information which can be used for scheduling, disaster manuals, and emergency contact lists. By providing a real time tool through which the employee can change their data without having to search for the appropriate form, fill it out manually, and then send it through internal mail, they will be more apt to keep their information current.” says Matthew Armstrong Financial Analyst and Business Office Manager at BGH.
Brockville General Hospital is also rolling out the web based leave management system by QHR Software.
“Employee communications will be enhanced by providing both managers and employees the ability to track the status of leave requests and view their schedules online. This will in turn free schedulers from clerical paper pushing activities to allow them to focus on getting the best replacement for each shift which will reduce overtime costs and scheduling rule violations. The QHR scheduling module works hand in hand with QHRnet leave management by providing the scheduler with the information they need and functionality they want.”
Return on investment for this implementation shows immediate benefits for BGH.
“In terms of direct cost savings for a hospital of our size you could save up to $8,000 or more through reducing paper, envelope and postage consumption alone. QHRnet is a great opportunity to introduce all of our employees to the internet and self service applications. We think the QHRnet is a great extension to the Quadrant HR solution. Providing information that employees and managers want, when they need it and where they can access it, is what QHRnet is all about.” says Armstrong.
